Tom Fetherston, Violinist

Violinist Tom Fetherston earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in violin performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he also spent four years as assistant to the director of the CIM Contemporary Music Ensemble.

His experience as an orchestral musician has included Associate Concertmaster of the Trinity Chamber Orchestra (a baroque orchestra in Cleveland, Ohio); Violin I with the Akron Symphony; Violin I with Cleveland Ballet, Cleveland Opera, and Ohio Chamber Orchestra; Principal Violin II of Lyric Opera Cleveland; Concertmaster of Ohio Light Opera; and Concertmaster of Albuquerque Civic Light Opera.

 

Tom Fetherston is currently a member of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, an Associate Musician with the Columbus Symphony, and Concertmaster of the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra. He also served as President of the Regional Orchestra Players’ Association from 2006 to 2007. Tom plays jazz in the Clintonville Jazz Company with guitarist John Yount and bassist Garry Wasserman.

He began teaching violin in Cleveland in about 1989, and has served as Adjunct Instructor of Music in violin at Kenyon College.

Tom is married to cellist Mary Davis Fetherston, and they live with their son, Daniel, who plays the cello.
